Spring schooling

Heyy :D

It might not feel like spring yet (stupid British weather!) but I decided that it's probably time to get Mellow ready for the competition season. Unfortunately, our first dressage test that should have been on sunday has been cancelled, but on the plus side it gives us more time to practice.

Today, I decided to do schooling over some showjumps.  Mellow much prefers jumping to flatwork. There was, for once, some sunshine, but it was still very cold and we didn't last very long in the sand school. Anyway, here's some pictures of our session:

Getting a bit excited!
He was really well behaved considering that it was the first proper jumping that we had done this year. The middle picture is of the biggest jump which was 2.9ft. That may sound quite small but Mellow's only 14hh! Haha he is such a sweetie, and hopefully we will be doing some more showjumping in the summer. At the end of the session, I took the saddle off and rode bareback to cool Mellow down.

Mellow looking unimpressed
Haha he is so grumpy! Thanks for reading :)

Welcome to my blog

Heyy guys!!!

Here's a bit about me... I'm basically a horse-obsessed teenager! I don't have my own horse (yet!) but I share a horse down my road and help out with lots of local horses, some of which I get to ride. I know I'm lucky to get to be with horses so much.

This is Mellow, my share pony:

He's so cute! Mellow is a 14,1hh New Forest gelding. He is rising 9 but is still very babyish!

Mellow loves showjumping but my favourite equestrian sport is dressage. I would love to be able to ride like Charlotte Dujardin! My favourite horse breeds are friesians, connemaras and arabs. I rode at my local riding school for several years and volunteered there. I also had a very unsuccessful loan which knocked my confidence, but now I am better and I just love being around horses!

So there's just a bit about me, but you'll be hearing lots more in my posts to come.
Thanks for reading!
